ABOUT ABOUT

The Overlook Proudly presents Nic Watrous - I began learning guitar in late 2000 when I received a guitar for an early Christmas present. As I progressed through high school I began a subscription to Guitar World magazine and my playing improved significantly. In 2003, I relocated from Colorado Springs, CO to Claremore, OK where I began playing at Silver Creek Church of the Nazarene every Sunday. That progressed in to the first group I was a part of, contemporary Christian band 10:51, named after a chapter and verse from the book of Mark. 10:51 traveled from church to church playing for youth group services and representing the northern district of Oklahoma in the Total Nazarene Talent (TNT) competition at Southern Nazarene University in 2005, which placed 2nd overall in group talent. I first began giving guitar lessons when I went to school at Northeastern State University in fall 2005. When I turned 21, I began performing a solo act in area bars and restaurants as a way of making extra money at nights. After relocating to Tulsa, OK in 2010 I formed The Riverside Forum, a jam –rock band, with a couple of my Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity brothers, which performed on the road from late 2010 to mid 2011 and regularly in 2011 and 2012 around the Tulsa, OK area. The Riverside forum released a hard copy 5 song EP in late 2011 and performed in several local festivals including The Hungry 4 the Blues festival in June 2012 shortly before breaking up. I relocated back to Colorado Springs in July 2012 with an opportunity to join The GR80’s Band as the primary guitarist, performing at least twice a month in clubs and at events. Recently I joined Back Road Horizons, Americana band from Colorado Springs, as of October 2013 and can be heard on select songs from their ReverbNation profile.
